Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the community-based youth mentoring program. This individual is responsible for the development and growth of the community-based youth mentoring program in conjunction with the Division of Youth Services. This work is community-based in nature and requires education, promotion, and training of diverse groups and stakeholders throughout the community. Work includes supervision of part-time mentors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements and manages the operation of the community mentoring project.
- Provides guidance, technical training, and capacity building information to the community mentors.
- Manages the recruitment of diverse groups and stakeholders as referral sources and participants in the project.
- Work closely with DYS Service Coordinators to coordinate mentor training.
- Develops and implements an on-going community awareness agenda around the community mentoring project, programs, services, and issues, including larger aspects of the juvenile justice and social services system.
- Maintain all financial records required to provide accurate financial data for the programs, monitors expenditures and contract budgets for assigned programs, completes purchases requisitions, and other financial documentation according to company policy.
- Submit monthly coordinator reports to the Division of Youth Services.
- Works with community groups, schools, community leaders and stakeholders to gather data for determining community needs and needs of special populations for whom programs are targeted.
- Supervises and trains assigned staff.
- Compiles and prepares all project evaluation reports.
- Attends all meetings of assigned Coalitions and sub-committees.
- Serves as an information resource and consultant for the area on the youth mentoring services and juvenile justice system.
- Collect and compile data, statistics and other source materials accurately for reports, budgets, proposals, and correspondence.
- Process and maintain various types of documents according to established procedures and programs.
- Maintain project files according to procedure as required for accurate and up-to-date records utilizing manual and/or computer systems.
- Purchase program supplies according to agency policy and budget. Maintain an inventory of all program items.
- Attend staff meetings of The Alliance of Southwest Missouri and funder reviews as requested.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned as necessary.
Education and/Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, psychology, social work, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Community development experience preferred.
- Child abuse prevention experience preferred.
- Experience with the juvenile justice system preferred.

- Ability to work independently and as a team member, as necessary.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional overnight travel.
- Excellent computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office and Google Suite)
Other qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance, or proof of valid transportation means, is required.
- Negative Criminal and CAN background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment, as well as community and outdoor environments throughout the year according to event structure. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as audio and video equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.
Travel:
• Moderate travel including overnight is required for this position
• Reliable transportation is required for regular travel within our service area • Ability to participate in outdoor activities in varying weather and temperatures
